How to remove icons from the desktop

Eventually your desktop may become cluttered with icons. Some may be shortcuts that show up when you install programs. Other files may find their way to the desktop. No matter how it happens sometimes you may feel the need to clean it up.
First you should assess which icons on the desktop are files. They may be documents or spreadsheets. For these instructions you should not be selecting My Computer, My Documents, or the Recycle bin. If you don't want to delete the files or are unsure you should do the following:
Holding the control key click each file with the mouse.
Right click on one of the items you selected and click cut.
Go to the location where you want to move the files. For example My Documents.
Right click again in the folder and click paste.
For the files or shortcuts that you wish to delete do the following.
Holing the control key click each shortcut or file with the mouse.
Right click on one of the items you selected and click delete.
Confirm that you want to send them to the recycle bin by clicking on the yes button.

Skype now has some serious competition from Google. You can now make calls using Google Voice from your computer using a USB headset. Google Voice also has great rates for international dialing.
To make calls you will need a Gmail account and to install the voice and video plugin from here:
http://www.google.com/talk/
Once you have both of those items all set make sure that your headset is installed and working following your particular brand's instructions.
Within Gmail click on call phone:
A new window will pop up. When you start typing in a name or number it will automatically start showing you results from your contact list.
Press call and away you go!

Despite the reason, you may find that you need to reset your Android phone back to factory defaults. Maybe you are replacing your older Android with a new HTC EVO 4G or Droid X. It makes good sense to protect your personal information by wiping out your old phone. Make sure that you back up any existing information that you want to keep and follow these steps:
Press the menu button and choose settings.
On the HTC EVO with froyo go to SD & phone storage
On the HTC Hero with Android 1.5 go to Privacy
Select factory data reset and you'll see the following screen:
After you press on reset phone it will reset the phone like the day you took it out of the box. Note that this does not erase the contents of your SD card, don't forget to do so.
